fancy flower plant pot box.

Here's another project using the 3-d roses made with the fancy flowers punch. The plant pot box is really easy to make, I used this tutorial to make it then made some 3-d roses using the new in-colours, I seem to be using these colours a lot lately.

The leaves were made using the five petal punch and I tied some calypso coral ribbon around the front. I popped a packet of thornton's chocolates in and it made a lovely little get well gift for a friend.  It would be great for Mother's Day as well.

Spice Cake Fabric bag

I've been sewing again, this time I used the spice cake fabric which I love, think I may have to buy some more before the end of the mini catalogue! It's the same as the flirtatious bag I made using the scallop square die but this time I made it 4 x 4 squares and left off the ruffle, I used the wide grosgrain ribbon for the handle and fastener and the giant buttons. As the bag was bigger I used a co-ordinating fabric for the lining.  I love this bag and am using it every day and have received lots of positive feedback, next time I will have to make an internal pocket as well though.

Spice cake fancy flower roses

Some more things we made in our class, no wonder it over ran! The first thing we made were the roses out of spice cake dsp as the glue needed time to dry. I used this tutorial, I did adapt it a little, I added a centre, one petal curled around and I snipped a little bit off the bottom of the cones to help them sit properly.Again we put it on top of a pillow box.

We made a card to match using the triple treat flower, we used the brush ends of the markers to solour the stamp in colours that matched the spice cake dsp.

There are so many fantastic tutorials, blogs and stampin' up projects on the internet it seems silly to re-invent the wheel but I will always give credit where it is due and never take anyones ideas as my own.
We had a great time in the class and I hope the ladies learned some things, they got a triple treat flower stamp and fancy flower punch in with the class price so they should be making lots of things to show me! If you would like to learn a few different things and/or meet some crafting people and have an enjoyable relaxing time why not come to one of my classes, just look at the class page for more details or you can always book an individual class tailored to suit you.

fancy flower punch carnation

Here's something else we made in our triple treat/fancy flower class.  There are a lot of things you can do with your fancy flower punch beside punching out your image, we hade 2 different 3-d flowers, totay I will show you the carnation we made. I used this tutorial, they are so easy to make, they just take a little time but I think they are worth it. We put ours on a plain pillow box but you can really spruce the pillow box up or use it on other things, I just wanted to fit as many different things into the class as possible!

Here's the flower in some of the new in colours, pool party, wisteria wonder and of course calypso coral.  Yet more projects tomorrow!

Simply Stampin' Challange 47 and flirtatious fabric

I have been on the sewing machine again and I thought I would enter it for the colour challange on the simply stampin' blog hope it qualifies girls as it's fabric rather than DSP and there's some calico for good measure but the colours are wisteria wonder, pretty in pink and wisteria white + calico!
I made a cathedral window pin cushion using the flirtatious fabric some calico and this tutorial.

Anyone following my blog will know I have just bought my sewing machine so if I can do it why not give it a go. You can always do it by hand if you haven't got a sewing machine. I am definitely going to make some cathedral windows again although I may make a few and join them together and next time I'll use some softer fabric rather than calico.

Triple Treat flower plant pot card

We have been very busy this morning in my triple treat and fancy flower punch class - I must learn not to do so many things - we ran over time again and I think everyones gone home for a sleep!
This is one the cards we made using the tutorial from splitcoast stampers here, I adapted it so we could use the triple treat stamp and matching punches.

The colour combination is wisteria wonder and calypso coral. It's a lovely card to make, and would make a gret mothers day card. The triple flower punch is great because there is a punch to match each element, we used the fancy flower and five petal flower on this card.

Polka dot heart card

Here is the other card we made at class.  Again it uses the sweetheart stamp set but his time we punched out three hearts with the full heart punch, embossed them using the polka dot folder and folded them in half and stuck them together to make a three-d heart. This is a great way of doing s three-d embelishment as it folds virtually flat to post.

This time the colour scheme is crumb cake, pretty in ping and certainly celery.  We made it into a thank you card but it would be suitable for most occassions. I think it would make a great new baby or get well card.

Faux patchwork and sweet treat cups

I thought I would show you one of the projects we made at my Wednesday Wow Class. We made a little card using the heart shaped sweet treat cup, these little cups are great, we used it as a little shaker card but you can make a trap door and fill it with sweets or a little gift.
The stamps are from the sweeheart stamp set and the colour scheme is cherry cobbler and nearly navy. As the card won't fit in a normal envelope we made a matching box to present it.

We  decorated the box top by sticking punched hearts and the heart and bird stamp on very vanilla card. We ran the card through the big shot using the latice square textured embossing folder, it's a bit stiffer than usual to roll through but I think it gives a lovely patchwork effect.

I think they make a lovely set, what do you think?

Simply adorned

No fabric today, this time it's jewellery! I thought I'd show you stampin' ups new range called simply adorned. This is a charm, but I would call it a locket as it opens up and you can change your design to suit your outfit.  Mine is the large rectangle and it comes in a gift box which you could also decorate.

The first picture is the back and the second picture shows the front.  There are chains but I plaited some crumb cake seam binding ribbon. I used the charming stamp set again, these lockets are lovely but I'm afraid my photos don't do it justice.

Flirtatious fabric Savanna Bag

Another fabric project, my second bag, this time I was brave enough to use my stampin' Up flirtatious fabric.  I made a Savanna bag, (not sure why it's called a Savanna bag so if anyone can enlighten me please leave a comment.). I followed this tutorial which is in four parts and very clear. The bag uses the scallop square die so It's really easy to cut the pieces.
Here's my bag

I am sure ther are going to be more creations - got the sewing bug - I also have some spice cake fabric which is gorgeous so want to improve my skills before I cut into it.

A sewing first!

I got a new sewing machine which arrived Friday so I have been having a little play.  Haven't used a sewing machine in over 20 years so any seasoned sewers look away now!
This is my first effort made of calico -cheap to practise on - I got the tutorial from here mine is a lot plainer as I didn't want to spoil any lovely fabric.

I ironed some wonder web on to the fabric and die cut the flowers using the fun flower die and ironed them on to my bag.  If I make this bag again I will do this before I sew the pocket on then I can edge it with zig zag stitch for a more professional look, although the flowers will stay on without this if you are reluctant to pick up a needle.  There's a lot of room for improvement but not bad for a first atempt and perfecr for Jessica's book bag as her uniform is red.

Charming make and take

I had a mini/sale-a-bration event last Tuesday.  We had a lovely time, here is the make and take everyone made using the charming stamp set out of the spring mini catalogue.  Fortunately my Stampin' Up Mum Claire was there to save the day as I forgot to bring my stamp set!
The colour scheme is wisteria wonde, pool party, crumbcake and very vanilla.  We stamped the background with crumb cake ink using the stamp on stamp off technique, ink the stamp up and stamp on scrap before you stamp on to your card this gives you different shades out of one ink pad. We stamped the flower using wisteria wonder. The border was made using the scallop trim border punch.
I showed another card where I used the brush end of the marker pens to ink up the flower stamp and used some pearls and wisteria ruffled ribbon to bling it up.
